ANTI-HONGOS Y ALGAS
Type of Product:

Water tonic and preventive. An active used to combat the the majority of skin diseases and external parasites, as well as algae. Can be used as a curative, depending on the dosage. Very effective against; fungi (Saprolegnia), protozoan (White Spot (Ichtyo), Oodinum, Costia), crustaceans (Árgulus, Ergásilus, Lernea), leeches, and some types of algae. Also effective against salt-water Oodinum, however the product must be applied in a separate bath for reef aquariums so as not to affect the invertebrates (corals, tridacnas etc).

Distinctive Characteristics with respect to other formulas:

Although the formula is Copper based, it is well tolerated for superior plants and fish such that the metal is encapsulated in an organic complex (quelate). The product incorporates electrolytes that facilitate the elimination by the metabolism of the superior organisms.

Copper Dosages:

To continue, review the recommended concentrations for copper treatments. As the general rule, the treatment is applied in the aquariums with good water conditions, or in a separate bath with correct oxygenation. This means that the filters and diffusers can continue functioning, though removing active carbon, resins, and other absorbent substances. For the best dosage, check the concentration of Copper throughout the treatment with a colour test. Take note that in alkaline water the metal can precipitate at a major speed. Take into account also, the quelate decomposes gradually by the action of light, therefore it's better to apply the dosage at night after switching off the light. In short baths it's preferable to monitor the reaction each individual day. The dosage is as follows:

  1. 0.15 mg/l. Prevents the appearance of fungi and protozoan, which means less algae. A 1 ml dose of ANTI HONGOS Y ALGAS per 10 litres of water, or two drops per litre, obtains a Copper concentration of 0.15 mg/l. Calculate the quantity needed, corresponding to the other concentrations, by using the a proportional rule.
  2. 0.30 mg/l. In a bath for more than three days, to combat against Oodinum, Ichtyo etc. If treating the Ichtyo, increase the temperature to between 28-30º during the duration of the treatment. The dosage of Copper in this product is well tolerated for fish and plants, as it incorporates a lower level of quelate.
  3. 0.60 mg/l. This concentration rapidly provokes the mortality of snails, hence eliminating the problem of snail infestation. Don't forget to remove the remaining parts of the snails after the treatment. Can also be used as a crash treatment for virulent diseases or as an algaecide, siphoning and reducing the dose by 0.3 mg/l after 24 hours. Note, certain species of fish such as the Botias or Coridoras present a lower Copper tolerance, in particular, because they can ingest the precipitates with the mud. Therefore it's always a good measure to syphon after treatment.
  4. 0.90 mg/l. This serious dosage is exceptional to de-parasite, in a short bath, certain species of fish with higher resistance, for example, the Red Fish or Carasius Auratus. Applied for between 8-12 hours to eliminate the majority of crustaceans e.g. those of which are gripped by the gills, and the crustacean funguses. If the dosage results insufficient, it's possible to maintain a concentration of 0.30-0.45 mg/l during an extra 48 hours, or repeat the bath after a few days break.
